The parents of a teen passenger who died after falling from an all-terrain vehicle agreed to a $2.35 million settlement. In 2008, Alyssa Wiley, 16, was invited to a veterinary clinic by her friends, Matthew Glen Ford and Alexandra Marie Segura, who are also teenagers. As they drove around visiting animals, Alyssa fell from the ATV that Alexandra was driving and died several hours later. Alyssa's parents asserted that Matthew and Alexandra didn't provide helmets and allowed three passengers on the ATV even though it's expressly prohibited by a warning on its seat. The defense contended that Alyssa willfully boarded the ATV, which Alexandra was not negligently driving.
