A mother and daughter who claimed multiple injuries in an intersection crash recovered $10,890. In 2007, Sandra Loya, then 40, and daughter Ivonne Hoyos, then 17, were driving on Woodland Hill Road when Jeffrey Jefferson entered from a side street that had a stop sign. They claimed he pulled out without keeping a proper lookout. The defense argued that Loya saw Jefferson pulling out of the intersection a block away. Loya claimed cervical, lumbar and shoulder strains. She also claimed a knee injury. Hoyos claimed shoulder strains. The jury found Jefferson 90 percent liable and Loya 10 percent liable. It awarded $12,100, which was reduced to $10,890.
